In 1933, the Welsh journalist Gareth Jones (James Norton) is sent to the USSR, where he is to interview Joseph Stalin. After initially being restricted to Moscow, Jones defies the authorities and travels towards Soviet Ukraine, where he witnesses the unpleasant truth about the Holodomor. Based on real events, Mr. Jonestells the ever-more-relevant story of struggling for truths in a world often dominated by fictions. Agnieszka Holland’s latest film won Best Film at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival, and was nominated for awards at Berlin International Film Festival and Camerimage.
The screening will be introduced by a film critic Peter Bradshow.
