Enjoy free screenings of films from Wajda School & Studio, a film school founded in 2002 in Warsaw by Andrzej Wajda and Wojciech Marczewski, where experienced filmmakers help young artists develop their own projects.
Developed as a bridge between film school and the professional film market, participants have benefitted from the advice of established filmmakers including Paweł Pawlikowski and Ildikó Enyedi as well from the founders themselves. The School's achievements include almost 3,000 graduates who have made their mark on the history of Polish and world cinema, and hundreds of film projects that have made it to the big screen.
Wajda School presents 17 films: short features and docs developed the last 20 years. This selection of works is full of award winners and audience favourites. It allows early works by now acknowledged talent to shine. It mixes genres, delivers the unexpected and offers invitations both to laugh and to cry. Each of these works comes from the heart: they all offer us spaces for reflection on 21st century European life.
Each programme gathers around a central theme, highlighting perspectives on strong female protagonists, the impact of family life, international conflict, intergenerational friction or the pressures to conform to social norms. How do we navigate expectations in today’s society? Wajda School alumni have some perspectives…
