Experience Kieślowski: Film, AI and Live Tribute
Presented by Polish Cultural Institute in London in collaboration with Institut Francais
The Polish Cultural Institute in London presents an immersive evening celebrating the enduring legacy of Krzysztof Kieślowski through cinema, conversation and cutting-edge technology.
The world premiere takes place at Cinéma Lumière on 13th of March, followed by a two-week exhibition at Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross, from 16 March.
On 13 March, as part of the Kinoteka Film Festival, audiences will be invited to encounter Kieślowski’s ideas in a new form through CALL KIEŚLOWSKI, an AI installation produced by Sebastian Strakowicz that enables visitors to “converse” with the director in real time.
The event also foregrounds the next generation of filmmakers: up-and-coming media students will create a live film during the evening inspired by Kieślowski’s 1979 documentary Talking Heads. Their work will premiere at the end of the programme, allowing participating audience members to see themselves on screen.
A central highlight will be a screening of one of Kieślowski’s most celebrated features, The Double Life of Véronique, exploring identity, chance and emotional resonance. The evening will also include a live conversation between Strakowicz and Witold Stok, Kieślowski’s longtime collaborator, offering rare insight into the director’s working methods and visual language.
The programme concludes with the world premiere of a new, work-in-progress film by the Quay Brothers, created as a tribute to Kieślowski, followed by the premiere screening of the students’ film, Talking Heads 2026.
Programme:
6:00–8:15pm – Brooklands College students shoot their reinterpretation of Talking Heads (1979), titled Talking Heads 2026
6:20–7:30pm – Kieślowski documentaries preceded by a live conversation between Sebastian Strakowicz and Witold Stok (separate ticket required)
8:15pm – Screening: The Double Life of Véronique
10:00pm – Quay Brothers film premiere (work in progress)
10:10pm – Premiere screening: Talking Heads 2026
10:15pm – End of programme
This unique event brings together archival legacy, contemporary artistic response and emerging talent, inviting audiences to experience Kieślowski’s work not only as cinema history but as a living dialogue across generations.
