Over the 40 years of its operation, the Moda Polska fashion house gathered around itself many outstanding creators and a large group of models. In 1998, following its bankruptcy, Jerzy Antkowiak bought its collections and stored them in his basement for two decades. For many years, these items were an important part of his life, and each of them brought back a separate memory. However, they were forgotten by the world, until, during the celebrations for his eightieth birthday, he revealed his collections to his guests. It was then that the idea of creating a documentary film and the exhibition "Jerzy Antkowiak - Moda Polska" was born.
Preparations for the exhibition are the starting point for telling the story of a designer creating in the difficult realities of the Polish People's Republic and the political transformation, as well as the "Modapolska" ties that have stood the test of time.
The Screening will be followed by a Q&A with Jerzy Antkowiak.
The evening will continue at Ognisko -The Polish Hearth Club, a short walk from Cine Lumiere, where there will be a panel discussion on Polish fashion with Antkowiak and contemporary designer Tomasz Ossoliński. Please Note, this event is ticketed seperately, so if you have bought a ticket for the film screening + Q&A at Cine Lumiere, you will need to purchase a seperate ticket via Ognisko Polskie for this additional event.
Tickets can be found under this link: http://www.ogniskopolskie.org.uk/.../20-mar-kinoteka-a... and are priced at 10 pounds, which includes a glass of wine and cocktail snacks.
